Tankatite 440. Constructed from a resilient elastomeric core spirally wrapped with P.T.F.E. tape for added chemical protection. The core is then surrounded with successive braided jackets of inert polypropylene which is wrapped with further layers of P.T.F.E. tape and finally enclosed in braid of P.T.F.E. yarns. Tankatite 440 provides a reliable seal for tank lids, main hatches, and cleaning covers on tankers carrying all known bulk liquid cargoes in all IMO classes. It will protect the cargo from sea-water ingress and prevent any environmental contamination by the cargo itself. Tankatite 440 meets U.S. Coast Guard requirements for tank lid sealing of hazardous cargoes and is pressure tight beyond Lloyds and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) test criteria. Any reasonable length can be supplied in square or rectangular from 12.5mm upwards, or can be supplied in factory produced endless ring form to exactly fit the tank lid recess.
